Biography

Dr. Dhar is the co-founder of iDISPLA, an initiative to advance STEM education and workforce development. He is a fellow of International Society for Optics and Photonics and Optical Society of America (OPTICA). Dr. Dhar received a master's degree and a Ph.D. in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the University of Maryland at College Park with a major in Microelectronics and a minor in Electro-physics. He received a BSEE degree in electrical and computer engineering from the George Mason University. For the past thirty-three years he has been leading the Electro-Optic and Infrared (EOIR) materials, components and imaging systems technology for the US Armed Forces. He joined the ECE department in August of 2021 with a vision to build a center of excellence in EOIR technology to serve diverse business sectors including defense, medical, smart city, transportation, agriculture etc.
